LIAT Director, Professor Simon Pearson will be chairing the event.

The event is hosted by the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), Innovate UK’s network partner. There are numerous challenges faced in the agri-food industry, with emphasis on the ever-expanding population and a need to increase food production at environmentally viable levels. In recent years, there has been a decrease in the cost of related imaging equipment such as cameras and sensors, as well as an increase in computing power, allowing greater accessibility to imaging technologies in the sector.

The workshops will explore emerging imaging technologies ranging from satellite imaging of crops to food microstructure imaging. Talks will cover advances in machine learning, 3D imaging and hyperspectral imaging. There will also be updates on funding opportunities from Innovate UK and BBSRC.
