Agricultural Researchers at the University of Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology and Lincoln Agri-Robotics Riseholme Campus are asking for your help. They work with robots that are being developed to do tasks like weeding and to do this they need vision systems that allow them to distinguish the difference between weeds and crops. They’re asking for your help this autumn and winter to collect images of wheat, barley and oilseed rape at the early stages of growth before the canopy becomes well established.

Any images you collect of the crop with/without weeds in a variety of conditions will be extremely valuable as researchers build a database of images to help train robots of the future to detect weeds via image recognition using cameras and software.
